Hello House of Turquoise! I’m Kelli Suozzo from BOWERBIRD Interior Design and I’m super excited to be filling in for Erin.

Today I’m sharing a newly completed project for a growing family who after years of city living decided to return to their beachy roots and build their dream home. Just a short walk from the beach, the couple envisioned relaxed and easy living for their family of five that magically expands and is a flurry of action over the summer months!

The entry opens right into the Family Room where immediately symmetry rules. The sculptural Vanguard console is punctuated by turquoise Arteriors lamps on either side offering a just a tease of the colors that will unfold in the rest of the space.

Choosing a calm palate in monochromatic shades of blues to echo the water close by, it was important to introduce texture with the cut velvet club chairs and the oversized custom leather ottoman, which offers a dose of bolder color. The Gray Malin aerial photograph on the far wall speaks to husband’s love of surfing and brings the eye up, carrying the bolder blue through the space.

The kitchen, which is the heart of their home, includes double islands to accommodate loads of summer entertaining. The Urban Electric Chisholm Hall lanterns in their grey/blue patina are really the star here, contrasting and adding depth and richness to the darker grey island cabinets.

A welcoming built in banquette, with perfect pool views is upholstered in a durable blue ostrich vinyl that can stand up to many a kitchen dance party with the kids and their friends! An eclectic mix of custom and off the rack pillows allows this area to double as cozy spot for reading and homework.

Soft shades of grey are a departure from the blues making the Dining Room a serene escape. With all trim and wainscot painted in the same taupe grey as the Phillip Jeffries Rivets wall covering, you truly feel enveloped in color. The metal chandelier highlights the rivets on the walls and gives the space just the right amount of rock and roll edge.

I want to extend a huge thanks to Erin for having me here today. Like all of you, I love checking in for design inspiration and my daily does of turquoise! If you’d like to see more of my work, pop over to my website or check out my adventures on Instagram. - xk
